Climate Change
Hi my name is Nevaeh and today i will be talking about climate change. Over 25 years ago climate change became news to the world. With everything going on like WW3 almost happening and all the riots and protests going on about racism everyone has forgotten about one of our biggest problems which is CLIMATE CHANGE.Our world is being destroyed everyday by human kind. Climate change is happening because of us. Human activities are releasing immoderate amounts of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere and are making our universe one degree warmer on average. At one stage during the year our earth got so hot that it caused Australia to catch on fire and that's when all the bush fires started. All the smoke from the fires spread throughout the world and affected other countries including New Zealand. It took 210 days until every bush fire was declared extinguished, and after those 210 days more than 46 million acres of land was burnt. Which leads us to the next paragraph.
Just last year December 2019 right through to February 2020 a drought accrued. It was announced the worst drought New Zealand has had to suffer in 70 years. New Zealand's capital Wellington said they had only just 18 days worth of water left. It's saddening to say but in some places, a shortage of water isn’t the problem. Bringing me to my next paragraph.
Did you know our glaciers in the south and north pole will be all gone due to global warming but not only will the glaciers be affected, but we will be too. By 2100 the water level will have risen by 1 metre which means the roads to Taipa, Oruru, and Peria will have been flooded.
As the planet gets hotter we as a race need to act now, instead of waiting, so in conclusion, I believe that the affects the human race has on the earth will cause destruction of the planet. We need to act now and we need to act fast.
